Design, Analysis and Application of Single-Wheel Test Bench for All-Electric Antilock Braking System in Electric Vehicles

An antilock braking system (ABS) is one of the most important components in a road vehicle, which provides active protection during braking, to prevent wheels from locking-up and achieve handling stability steerability. The all-electric ABS without any hydraulic potential candidate for electric vehicles. To demonstrate examine algorithms, this article proposes single-wheel test bench, mainly includes vehicle wheel, roller, flywheels, electromechanical brake. simulate dynamic operation real vehicle’s kinetic energy total rotary bench designed match quarter commercial car. vertical force wheel adjustable. tire-roller contact simulates tire-road contact. roller’s circumferential velocity represents longitudinal velocity. design analysis proposed are described detail. For developed prototype, rated clamping brake 11 kN, maximum reaches 300 kg, roller (vehicle) 100 km/h. measurable bandwidth speed 4 Hz–2 kHz motor 2.5 Hz–50 kHz. measured results including velocity, slip satisfactory. This offers effective tools verify algorithms laboratory, hence saving time cost subsequent on road.
